White Label File Sharing: What It Is and Who Needs It

White label file sharing lets you deliver files to clients under your own brand — no platform logos, no third-party URLs. Here's what it is, how it works, and who actually needs it.

What White Label File Sharing Actually Means

When you deliver files to a client using WeTransfer, Google Drive, or Dropbox, the client sees those platforms’ branding — their logos, their URLs, their interface. You’re essentially advertising someone else’s product every time you deliver work.

White label file sharing removes that. Your clients see your brand, your domain, your logo — not the underlying platform’s.

It’s the difference between:

“Here’s your brand kit: wetransfer.com/downloads/abc123

and:

“Here’s your brand kit: files.novastudio.co/brand-kit-2026

Same file. Completely different brand impression.

The Three Levels of Branded Delivery

Level 1: Custom URL (Basic)

Your delivery links use your own domain instead of the platform’s default URL.

  • files.youragency.com/project instead of clowd.host/a/project
  • Platform branding still visible on the delivery page
  • Available on Clowd free plan

Level 2: White Label (Intermediate)

Platform branding is removed from the delivery page. No “Powered by Clowd” text, no platform logo.

  • Your domain + clean delivery page with no third-party branding
  • Available on Clowd Pro ($4/mo)

Level 3: Full Brand (Advanced)

Your logo and brand identity appear on the delivery page.

  • Your domain + your logo + your brand colours
  • Clients see a fully branded experience
  • Available on Clowd Pro Max ($8/mo)

Who Actually Needs White Label File Sharing?

Agencies delivering to enterprise clients

Enterprise clients expect a polished, professional experience at every touchpoint. Seeing a generic platform URL or “Powered by Clowd” on a delivery from a premium agency breaks the illusion of a bespoke service.

Studios with strong brand identity

If your brand is a core part of your value proposition — a design studio, a creative agency, a premium freelancer — every client touchpoint should reinforce that brand. File delivery is no exception.

Resellers and service providers

If you offer file delivery as part of a broader service package (e.g. a web agency that includes ongoing asset delivery), white label lets you present it as your own proprietary system.

Anyone charging premium rates

If you charge $5,000+ for a project, your delivery experience should match. A generic WeTransfer link doesn’t match a $5,000 invoice.

Who Doesn’t Need White Label

  • Freelancers just starting out — custom domain (free) is sufficient
  • Internal team sharing — no client-facing brand impression needed
  • One-off transfers — not worth the setup for a single file
  • Budget-conscious projects — the free plan with custom domain is often enough

How to Set Up White Label File Sharing on Clowd

Step 1: Upgrade to Pro or Pro Max

White label (removing Clowd branding) requires Pro ($4/mo) or above.

Step 2: Add your custom domain

In your domain registrar’s DNS settings:

Type: CNAME
Name: files (or your chosen subdomain)
Value: clowd.host
TTL: 3600

Then add the domain in your Clowd dashboard → Settings → Custom Domains.

Step 3: Enable white label

In your Clowd dashboard → Settings → Branding:

  • Toggle “Remove Clowd branding” on
  • Upload your logo (Pro Max)
  • Set your brand colours (Pro Max)

Step 4: Done

All your deliveries now appear under your domain with no Clowd branding. Existing links redirect automatically.

Practical Example: The Agency Upgrade

Before white label:

Nova Studio delivers brand kits to clients via clowd.host/a/brand-kit. The delivery page shows the Clowd logo and “Powered by Clowd” in the footer. Clients occasionally ask “What is Clowd?” — a question that breaks the premium positioning Nova Studio has worked to build.

After white label:

Nova Studio sets up files.novastudio.co as their custom domain and enables white label on Pro. The delivery page shows Nova Studio’s logo, their brand colours, and no mention of Clowd. Clients see a seamless, professional delivery experience that reinforces Nova Studio’s premium positioning.

Cost: $4/month. Time to set up: 10 minutes.

White Label vs Building Your Own

Some agencies consider building a custom file delivery system. Here’s the honest comparison:

White Label (Clowd Pro)Build Your Own

White label is almost always the right choice unless you have very specific requirements that no existing platform can meet.

Question-Based Insights

Does white label file sharing affect client trust?

Yes — positively. Clients who see your own branded delivery experience perceive you as more established and professional. It signals that you’ve invested in your delivery infrastructure, which correlates with investment in the quality of your work.

Can clients tell they’re using a white label platform?

Technically savvy clients might notice the underlying platform from network requests or page source. But for the vast majority of clients, what they see is what they believe — and what they see is your brand.
